who is alien
We all know the general situation, in the world and in Italy, the economical, political, social crisis and the loss of references and values that follows. In the meantime values of discrimination, violence and selfish interests are growing up, putting apart the spirit of solidarity; in the proposal and in the actions of the various governments, that produce a situation of total absence of care for the weak and an image of inquiring and worring future for most people, together with an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear.
In this global and italian context, Alien intends to be a form of comunication and information realized by people that, being from other countries and cultures, express their point of view, their opinion and experience in order to have the chance of being active part in a multiform, non-discriminating and non-violent society; because different cultures can be an enrichment in constructing the Universal Human Nation.

Nowadays a foreigner, coming from a culture or country not known, doesn't fall within those models' rules imposed in such an arrogant and violent way; so he'is considered and treated every day as an "ALIEN", a stranger, a dangerous subject.

The attitude of ALIENs towards other ALIENs brings immediately to be afraid or, saying it better, to project our own fears, personal and not; thus he becomes guilty of all the fears and, why not, accidents and troubles afflicting us.
In all this game the mass media, accomplice with the power, show reality as it is more suitable to them, in order to justify the difficulties and the situations that cannot be (or they don't want to) resolved, leaving the counterpart without the possibility to reply and without a minimum space of information.
So it's important to make something to turn this, and we can change it only if we meet ALIEN and instead of taking him away we consider him as a neighbour, with whom we want to bring on the construction of the world we wish.
With this intention this monthly newspaper is born, and many people work here with the common interest of turning these pages into the voice of all those who want to say something, not only to make their culture, fears and desires known but also to move towards a true integration, a dialogue among the great variety and richness of the ways of living, that will be the common points to build a new, non-violent society. Also in the immediate future we want to work in order to change the direction of the events in this country where, although in the past some laws were made to improve the foreigners' conditions, today not only we see how many promises have been broken, but also we are moving towards situations clearly unbearable for every human being, violating in this way the Universal Declaration fo Human Rights.
We believe we can overcome prejudices and fears that restrain and warp an inevitable development. According to us this development is the evolution of the actual society and human history in a new form of relation among people. This image of future society guides our action and our engagement of volunteers who consider the human being as the central value.
We can synthetize this view of future as a uniform but multiform world: multiform in the cultures, in the languages and in the customs; multiform in the places, in the religions and in the autonomies; multiform in the ideas and in the desires; multiform in the work; multiform in creativity.

In some news-stands, in all the places that economically partecipate in the realization of the newspaper, in all the places frequented by foreigners, either places of fun or places of restore and assistance. Besides in all the associations that are interested in anti-discrimination and everywere there's the feeling that Alien can bring his contribution.

In the beginning Alien was distributed only in Milan, now there are 9 other towns, we hope to reach all the regional capital towns and to have an editoral office of Alien in all of them.

Alien already has a correspondent from Egypt, Senagal, Costa d'Avorio there's the strong intention to develop a network of correspondents from all over the world, in order to gather direct news from the countries and to broaden the distribution of the newspaper in this countries too.
